I am an artist by nature and avocation; I am deeply committed to making buildings that resonate for their inhabitants. As a Northwest native I focus on creating wonderful places that are easy to live with, abide well in a community, and live lightly in the landscape. My approach is holistic, embracing my client’s vision, the unique aspects of their site, and the expertise offered by every member of the team. One of my great satisfactions is helping nurture ideas into form with those embarking on a construction project for the first time.

I am a native New Yorker who moved to Seattle twenty-five years ago. An education steeped in cultural exploration and the arts shaped my conviction that our lives are deeply enriched by art and beauty. Issues of justice and fairness were equally a part of my training and led me to focus on civic architecture centered on educational and public spaces. I begin by considering everyone I work with to be a peer member of the team. I am critical, observant, and attentive to detail, both during design and construction. I bring technical expertise combined with a commitment to the design intentions for the building.
